Andrea Valdez, Inventory Shipping and Receiving Clerk, works with our third-party partners and suppliers to confirm that product is arriving to our inventory warehouses as well as in our customers’ hands.

Give us a little background on yourself! Where are you from? Hobbies? What did you do before Gillco?
I was born in Escondido, CA. I have a B.S in Business Administration, Finance from Cal State San Marcos.
I like to read, watch shows/movies, explore nature, and learn new things. Most recently, I worked as an accounting assistant for a transportation company and also an administrative assistant for a non-profit organization.
How long have you been at the company? What does your new position at Gillco Ingredients entail?
I started at Gillco as a Purchasing Assistant in October 2020. I moved into my new role as Inventory, Shipping/Receiving Clerk a few months ago. I’m responsible for arranging and tracking freight for inbound shipments
and receiving and inventory tasks.
What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day typically includes communication internally with the Gillco team and externally with suppliers, warehouses, and shipping partners. I monitor and schedule inbound shipments to our warehouses. I process and file documents needed to receive inventory into our ERP system. In addition, I process outbound BOLs, making sure orders to our customer’s shipped correctly.
What are some of the challenges for you in this role?
It’s a newly created position in Gillco’s new Warehousing and Logistics Department, so procedures can change, requiring adaptability and critical thinking. I enjoy the challenge and being part of this new endeavor!
What is the best part of your role/why do you like working at Gillco?
Gillco is a dynamic company and in the short time I have worked here, I have learned much about business operations. I have had exposure to purchasing processes and am now learning more about logistics in my new position.
