Challenge
Help a gummy manufacturer reduce sugar content while maintaining sugar texture on the outside of a gummy vitamin.
Process
Our Account Manager unveiled a challenge that one of our gummy manufacturers was having with their new organic, reduced sugar gummy application. They were looking for alternatives (aside from cane sugar) to coat the outside of their gummy bear, with the goal of reducing sugar content on their nutritionals and preventing sweat to control moisture. Along with functionality, appearance and flavor impact were important factors to address.
After consulting our supplier with technical questions, we recommended our customer sample Citri-Fi© 400M40. This product is a certified organic, <200 mesh citrus fiber, which can be labeled as “Organic Citrus Fiber/ Citrus Pulp/ Citrus Flour.
Solution
After R&D tested the product, they were pleased with the neutral taste, appearance and functionality (reducing sugar and moisture) of the Citri-Fi © 400M40 when used on the outside of the gummy.
